Bodybuilding is seen as the sport of Men, specially in India where bodybuilding as a sport for women is not widely accepted in the society. Even though bodybuilding is gaining popularity in India, Women’s bodybuilding is still in its infancy.

There is a small section of women that are trying to change these thing. These women’s have broken the rules and old cultural stereotypes and made a name for them in this field. They have made all of us proud by winning prizes for India at international levels. Most of these women’s are married and have children’s. In spite of taking care of the family and children they have worked hard to achieve their dream. Therefore, this list should be an inspiration to all our readers.

Here we have compiled the list of top 10 Indian female bodybuilders based on their performance in the past year.

With the recent wins at IBBFF Mr India 2016, Yashmeen Manak has climbed the ranking to no 1 spot.

2 Shweta Rathore
Shweta Rathore
Shweta Rathore was the first runner up in the Women’s Fitness Championship and won silver medal for our nation. This was second international victory for Shweta.

3 Karuna Waghmare
Karuna Waghmare
Karauna Waghmare won sixth place at the Amateur Olympia 2015. She was competing under Female Physique Fitness category and was ill few weeks before the event. Despite of her illness she managed to win at the Amateur Olympia competition. Karuna also won Miss India 2015 Overall title.

Recently she approached Salman Khan for sponsorship and Salman was quick to provide her sponsorship without any hesitation.

Deepika Chowdhury has won the Overall figure title at 2015 NPC Steve Stone Metropolitan Championships which was held on 4th of April 2015 in USA.

Mamota Devi wins bronze medal at World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2015. Mamota Devi is from Manipur.

At 32 years of age, Ashwini Waskar becoame the India’s first competitive female bodybuilder.

Sonali Swami
Sonali Swami is 39 years old ( as on Jan 2016) and has two kids. She impressed everyone with her amazing physique. She is also a Team ON India Athlete.

9 Sarita Devi
Sarita Devi
Sarita Devi wins bronze medal in women’s body building below 55kg category in World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2015.

10 Kiran Dembla

We will be frank that this list may not be as accurate as we wanted it to be. This is mainly due to lack of state level and national level competitions for Women’s in India. There are only handful of events that have dedicated women’s category. Hence it becomes very difficult to judge one against another. We have arrived at this list based on the performance of these athlete during last year.

Also, we  have mixed up both Bodybuilding and Fitness ( Or Physique Or Bikini model ) category in this list. This is a combined list of all these categories. Let us know your view, what you think about this ranking ?

    Yes. Bobby is right. Yashmeen manak is winner of 2016 ibbff miss India. She defeated Karuna waghmare this time. So list should be updated.
