The 54th Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship was a grand event supported by Government of Maldives. The event saw participation from 24 countries in Asia, with a remarkable participation of 382 athletes from different countries whereas, 7 athletes represented India. India won 12 medals on day one at the 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship event in Maldives that took place from 17th to 21st July 2022. Out of the 12 medals won by India on day one, it is remarkable to see that India has won 4 gold medals.
Assistant Police Inspector Mr. Subhash Pujari from Navi Mumbai has brought a proud moment for India as he won the title of ‘Asia Shri’ in the Masters category of Body Building. Pujari represented India in the 80 kg weight category. Also, Suresh Kumar won Gold in Junior (75kgs) category. Athul Krishna has won Gold medal in Physique Sports category. Also, renowned Body builder and entrepreneur Mr. Yatinder Singh has won Gold in the 80 Kg weight category. UT Police Inspector Baldev Kumar who is posted in traffic wing of Chandigarh police won Gold medal in above 80 kg category in the 50-60 years age group.
Yatinder Singh won the overall Champion of Champion at the Asian Championship.
Also, in the women’s Senior Model Physique Category, Solimla Jajo has won Silver Medal in 165cm Senior Model Physique competition, while Solan Jajo has secured 4th position in 160 cm Senior Model Physique category. Both the females from Manipur represented India and were trained under the guidance of well known body builder and instructor Leishangthem Robert Meitei.
