The recently concluded IFBB Mr India 2016 is in news for all the wrong reason. May athletes are not happy with the results and feel that they were fixed. We have seen lots of posts circulating on facebook claiming that the results are unfair and were pre-decided. We have also received lots of comments and message on our facebook page about this.

Disclaimer

We are not biased towards any athletes. Nor do we have anything against the judges and IBBF, They have been doing a good job in promoting the sport of bodybuilding ( The same reason why we started this website). We have great respect towards both Vipin Peter and Sunit Jadhav. They both are great athletes and done tremendous hardwork to reach where they are today. Through this post we want to highlight the opinion of athletes and general public towards the results of IFBB Mr India 2016.

We are not associated with any official/government organisation or association.

Although such reactions among people are not uncommon, there were several occasions in the past where such thing used to happen. Its is understandable that when people see that the athlete they support does not get a place which they think he deserves, then their disappointment is obvious. Some of the recent scenarios are

  • The Mr Dubai International where people supporting one group of bodybuilders claimed that the results were not fair.
  • The another instance was during IBBF Mumbai Shree 2016, Some people where claiming that other athlete deserved the overall title (not Sachin Dongre).
  • In Mens Physique category at Mumbai Shree 2016, People felt that Kiran Patil Deserved victory over Junaid ( Which actually happened in IBBF Maharashtra Shree 2016 and IBBF Mr India 2016)

Well this is because bodybuilding judging is judgmental and depends on the opinion and outlook of the judges. Two different judges might have different opinion of the same athlete. One may feel that he is the best, while other may observer some shortcomings.  Thats the reason there is panel of judges so that the opinion of the majority is used to give the ranking.

However, this time the protest has been very big with big athletes returning their trophy. This time we have seen big athletes coming up in open about their feelings about impartiality in the results.

Vipin was in best form of this life and he felt that he deserved the title this time. He took to his facebook page to share his disappointment. He tells that because he competed through service team and not Maharashtra team, he got second place. Indicating that there is politics being played at IBBF evens. This is what he had to say.

Hi all. I would like to share something related 2016 mr.india. i hve participated from services (not from Maharashtra) and i played in the category of 80 to 85 i was in my life best form out there as u guys knows,
So i wanna say something here is my category was little tough, even though i came second position and sunit jadav from maharashtra got first place as well as champion of champion of mr.india 2016 (me and my friends still believe it might belongs to me) my congrats to him and appreciate his hard work as a sports man.
I gave two times silver medal for our country in world championships and i won two time national gold in ibbf, and my friend never became a mr.india once as well as one time bronze in world championship and bronze in asian championship. last year also he participated in my category at Thailand, but he gone out of point. I really dnt have any intention to humiliate him but the people who doing bodybuilding should know the politics which underlying with the oficials and organizers.

Im ready to agree my defeat if there was a comparison with me and sunit jadhav. I dnt think so without any comparison he can beat me easily, ,

Here my queation is y u people organizing such a drama to make athletes and people fool, i was noticed the hurry of officials to windup my category as i didnt seen in any of class,,
And my best friend yatinder singh was in awesome condition who really deserved champion of champion they pulled him out to 2nd runnerup, so disgusting it is.
I have returned my trophy, medal and certificate to Chetan Pathare sir which i really dnt want.
STILL I BELIEVE SUNIT JADAV CANNOT BEAT ME WITHOUT ANY COMPARISON. Thank u all

Vipin Peter

Although we fully understand the emotions of Vipin Peter, but returning the trophy is not a good thing. You are an Icon, there are lots of youth looking upto to you, taking inspiration from you. You should not set such an example for others. Even if you believe that there has been injustice, there are other way to protest. We feel you should uphold the honor of the sport as a true sportsman.

Hari Prasad Comparision

Hari Prasad who got second place in 100+ Kg category was also not happy with the results. He says he was not even compared with the winner before declaring the results.

I also returned my trophy and certificate and I didn’t get any comparison with Javed Ali unfair decision by association judgesHari Prasad

There were some athletes that were not happy with the arrangements made for them (accommodation) by the federation. Shaik Abdul from telangana claims that he had to spend all night without sleep in the park ad he returned back in the morning without competing.

Welsaid bro and they have not given proper accommodation, and I returned from raigad with out playing competition. I worked hard for six months and I’m from a very famous family from hyderabad, I got a pvt , Ltd construction company. I came there to participate from Telangana state. They have not given only two rooms, in which only it has 8 beds and we are all of them was 25 athletes. I have not slept whole night I sat outside in a park waiting for the morning, and then I took my baggage hire a taxi and went to Mumbai domestic airport . And came back home . And I quite body building it is not a correct sport to play in india, this official they don’t have respect towards bodybuilder. I agree with you, I’m a student of your student ramakrishna now he is in Indian railway. I told him also that I’m quiting from the bodybuilding this is not a correct sport in india. Hat’s of to you, you have given so many international medal to India but these officials they don’t have respect for you.Shaik Abdul Wadood Amoudi

Many people supported Vipins opinion. Some Claim that they were present at the event and Vipin definitely deserved the title.

Witness the truth..

Hi everyone here I am taking time to write about the dirty Politics in bodybuilding.

Mr.India 2016 true winner is Vipin Peter.

Unfortunately he was pulled down to 2nd place so that Maharashtra team player Sunit Jadhav could win.. Who was not at all deserving. We do not have any personal grudge wit Sunit Jhadav. He is good bodybuilder he has also worked hard for the competition. But still I say he was not in is best form neither symmetrical. There were several other bodybuilders who were much better than him as well better than other Maharashtrian bodybuilder in several other groups.

60 kg winner Nitin mathre was a 4th place deserving candidate but he was given 1st.

Maheshwaran from Indian army was a 1st place deserving candidate in 80 kg he was placed 2nd. He would have been placed 1st if he played from Maharashtra team.

Hariprasad Sreekumar was the true winner of 100+ category he was given 2nd.

Vipin was the true title winner but they sidelined him by placing 2nd.

If not Vipin the next deserving candidate to win Mr.India was Yatinder Singh who was the 2nd best for the title.
Still if you people not convinced with Yatinder Singh n vipin. Thn still there was an option thts Murali kumar.. Can ny1 think Sunit jadhav can beat Murali kumar.

Chetan pathare association was standing no where.. Bodybuilders like Vipin Peter, Hariprasad, Murali Kumar,Maheshwaran worked hard won medals in international games n uplifted the association n bought team India to a strong winning team.. But bodybuilding association always used them for their benefits of growth.

The well respected Chetan pathare, prem chand degara, Madukar talwalkar sir.. It feels ashamed to know that such decisions in contests are made with you peoples knowledge n involvment.

If you people have already decided the winner thn call only those participants to participate in the contest don’t spoil other athletes time, money n hardwork to do show off you people’s sponsorship arranging skills n yours strength in association.

You people have to understand
The bodybuilding contest is not bcoz of your association or judges it’s there bcoz of hardworking bodybuilder.

I’d also advise all the judges to go on international standards n learn how judging is done n what basis. N then lift your pen to put the score. Would also request you judges Never sideline a bodybuilder just bcoz of you peoples ego is hurt.

If thts the case thn you people should not be in this field..

Bcoz of such judgements you judges have put many bodybuilders carieer on toss..

Also would request you to stop playing for states..rather than that unitedly Play for country India..

Not but the least..
Vipin Peter is the title holder of Mr.India 2016. He will continue playing he won’t give up.. Only difference will be he will now play for country on international standards

Well this doesn’t end here, even in women’s category there seems to be dissatisfaction. Athletes are coming up in open to questions the ranking. They are posting the comparison photos which are hard to ignore. Once particular case is that of Ankita Singh who got 5th Place. Here are some of her comparison pictures with another athlete who was placed second. Now its your for all to decide after looking at the pictures who deserved second place and who deserved fifth.

Ankita Singh 5th Vs 2nd Place

5th Vs Second

Got placed FIFTH overall in Mr. India, women physique championship with all your blessings. I still don’t know where I missed 😇 but I certainly know what I’m missing (a medal!!!! 😑)

Here is the comparison picture of the conditioning on stage with my friend who got placed SECOND (In pink) and THIRD (Black,Blue).

Please help me understand where I lacked as everyone who saw my performance /met me after my competition(even couple of judges in my panel and pro athletes of my federation) said I deserved to have been placed SECOND ATLEAST!

ONE SPOT below itself makes a huge difference for an athlete, think about placing one FOUR SPOTS below!

Ankita Singh

We hope that federation gives due consideration to these allegation and carries out an investigation. If there are any partiality and irregularly found that it should be dealt with very strictly. Other wise people will lose hope on the sport of bodybuilding and IBB.

Moreover, we want to hear from all you people, What do you guys feel. Please share your opinion in the comments below. Every opinion matters.

  1. Its really sad that controversies prevails in a clean sport like bodybuilding. Whatever the reasons maybe, what the judges saw on the stage they gave their verdict.

  2. I don’t no what is the truth , but about vipin Peter I was see him very closely.. And i think he can easily beat sunit jadhav … Well if ibbf playing politics so you guys are crap … Open your eyes and see their hardwork , bodybuilding is not easy sport , YOU know Better than me .. Bodybuilders are taking risk on their health to win , so plz take right decision and don’t do politics

  3. They both are great athletes.

  4. Its depressing that even in Bodybuilding where people and judges can see clearly one’s hardwork but still does this thing. we youngsters think that judging Bodybuilding is same everywhere but this pathetic article brings sorrow to our hearts how politics can take aside one’s pain for other’s success. THIS IS NOT FAIR.

  5. Vipin peter is at his best condition I hve ever seen den sunit jadhav….. Comparison was fr just name sake to give sunit Jadhav title ……

  6. Vipin really deserves the title… look at the definition of the legend… no need to compare with sunil

  7. Its really sad to see such an unjustice in the sport . Giving fourth place to Ankitha singh is the worst thing i could imagine . 😡😡😡.

  8. Vipin is all time best and all we can see comparing to sunit jadhav in every format its all about politics or may be the judges has to be retired as the eye sight retina is gone weak….vipin bhai dont worry aap bahut aagay badhogay……

  9. Dear vipin last year Sunit Beat Sangram On maharashra shree, that time Sangram did not returned his Medal, He Accepted The Judges Result. Judges Decides The Winner by his present show not by his past history. Dont Spoil others victory.

    • Well Said Sandesh … A true sportsman should not dishonour the medals and trophy. There are other ways of protesting

  10. Hi I was present at the event as I m from Roha.looking Ankita singhs body ahe really deserve 2nd prize.

  11. Any how what is happened is happened, Let us forget every thing and think of the possibilities for changing the age old methods of judgement. Bodybuilding is a Govt recognized sports event. It is the right of every competitor to know the actual marks given to them by each judges. Like Gymnastics, synchronized swimming , etc Bodybuilding results also can be computerized. The marks awarded by each judges should be made visible to everyone on computer screen. If any judges show partiality by giving very high mark or very low mark ,it should be made as the average of total. Then there is no chance for any disputes. At present if any bodybuilder is having doubt about the results, it is not his mistake, because he expects good results for his hard work , since it is the most toughest and expensive game than any thing. So it is very essential that the the results should be made transparent. I being the senior most body builder of India, submit this opinion for discussion among the IBBF officials.

  12. Let’s not get biased, just compare both the athletes and I think even a person who is most ignorant in this field will agree that Vipin is the BETTER SPECIMEN. A very bad sample of politics in sports. Hope an inquiry committee is detailed to right this wrong not only for Vipin but all the others also who are deserving.

  13. Vipin u wel deservd. I dont know what de hell decistion was der. But Vipin 4 u gud advice, next time pls participat in fame f maharashtra without hard work u can easily won title.. ha ha.. my frustration 4 Yatinder also. 4 IBBF i hav a symbol 2 show but not showing publicaly. Vipin u were de best..

  14. Vipin peter deserves Mr India tittle not sunit jadavvv

  15. I m very sad to see tht no one is talking abt B.Maheshwaran. He got 2 nd place in 75 kg category in 9th Mr.INdia competition held at Roha Raigad.(13/3/2016). B.maheshwaran has won Gold in 7th n 8th Mr India competition, Silver in World championshio n Gold in World Championship(2014). ONly two Bodybuilders got Gold for India in 2014 World championship(Sangram Chowgule n B.Maheshwarn). At Roha during the pre judging it was crystal clear tht he is going to get the Gold, BUt he got silver n the Guy(with all respect) who gold was probably 3rd . Even someone not frm bodybuiding wld have judged the No.1 position in tht comeptition in 75 kg. I m not a pro athlete but i feel there was biasness in tht competition.
