Top 700 bodybuilding and physique sports male and female athletes in India will compete this year for Mr India 2019 National Championship organized by Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF). The “12th Mr. India, Senior Men’s and Women’s Body Building & 7th Men’s Physique Sports and Women’s Model Physique National Championship 2019” will be held in Chennai. The championship event will be held from 29th to 31st March at Late Col. Jeppiaar Auditorium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Indian Body Builders Federation secretary Chetan Pathare said, “The championship is held in Chennai for the first time under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation. We have got 10 weight categories in the event in which about 700 athletes from 43 State associations, Union Territories and government sports boards affiliated to it will take part.”
The championship event will be held under the organization of Tamil Nadu Amateur Bodybuilding Association. Tamil Nadu is one of the oldest Bodybuilding Associations in the country formed in 1975. It has produced various top athletes in the country that have competed at International level like Baskaran, Balamurugan, Jayaprakash, Senthil Kumaran and others.
For Men’s bodybuilding total 10 weight categories are formed, whereas for women there shall be 1 open group. Similary in case of Men & Women’s Phsyique sports there shall be 1 open group for each. First three places in each category will receive Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals. First Five places in each category will receive Cash Prizes along with Merit Certificates and trophy respectively.
“Bodybuilding is the mother of all sports. This is the most prestigious championship of the sport. There has been so much response for the sports from female athletes now. Now, we want to make the sport as No. 1 in the country,’ added Chetan Pathare. (Source newstodaynet.com)
