Indian Ketogenic Diet Plan

People try different diet plans to achieve their fitness goal. Among the most popular diet plans these days, “Ketogenic diet plan” is the most popular one.

What is a Ketogenic diet plan

Before understanding the Ketogenic Diet Plan one has to understand what ketosis is. Ketosis is a condition where body uses ketones rather than glucose for energy. It happens when the intake of carbohydrates is very low, to lower the insulin levels and body starts producing ketones from fat, these ketones are used by body to burn for energy instead of glucose, because glucose is unavailable in the body.

In this state the rate at which body burns fat is very high and one can lose weight and inches in a short span of time.

Apart from shredding fat, this diet has many other advantages. In some studies it has been found that this diet plan has the ability to kill the cancer cells.

Basics of Ketogenic diet

While planning a Ketogenic diet, one has to make sure that the nutrition is not compromised. Body needs good nutrition to keep the vital functions running smoothly, if this gets compromised one may fall sick for several days. So before we start we should make sure that we are not taking steps ahead towards unhealthy future but we are shaping our self smartly for better days ahead.

One might think, “Okay, it is just about taking protein and not adding carbs to the diet, it is easy”, but the story has a twist. If you will start adding more protein to your diet, excess protein will also turn into glucose and body will not reach the condition where liver converts fat into ketones. Many protein foods also spike the level of insulin in our body just like carbohydrates.

One has to actually eat “FAT”, yes! You are reading it right. It is fat that will make you lose fat. Someone might jump out of the couch reading this, because it is going to be fun. Where traditional diet plans stops the fat intake, Ketogenic diet plan gives you liberty to have fat without worrying.

While following a Ketogenic diet for serious fat loss, one has to take 70% fats, 20 % protein and 10% carbohydrates.

This above mentioned diet is good enough for a person to stay healthy and maintain good amount of ketones in body while losing body fat every other day.

      Ignore the mushroom. Just make a salad with a combination of “non-starchy vegetables” (google it).
      Mix that with a salad dressing (look for it in those high-end grocery store chains, or on BigBasket.com or on Amazon.in).
      Btw, you can find mushrooms and broccoli on BigBasket as well.

    • Replce brocolli with Cabbage.
      Replace mushroom with whole fat paneer.

    • There are many people around the globe who do keto diet for whole year but according to me one should not do keto diet for more than 3 months,you have to do keto for minimum 40days though. Do keto for 3months then take a break for few months and again go on keto if you feel so. You will see crazy fat loss in 3months.

      unless you eat more than that you won’t have any problem
      your body will automatically starts making less
      and yes you can eat cooked mushrooms just keep track of the ingredients you are using to not reach beyond your daily net carbs

      the more active you are the more calorie expenditure and lesser calories restrictions i consume 1600 a day though i burn 2300 to 2400 daily just to keep my body fat percentage below 10
      you just need to be calorie deficit to loose weight

      keep track of your macros (very very important) download my fitness pal app for it
      just a simple rule 70 to 75 percent fat 20 percent protein and 10 percent carbs (not more than 30 gms net carb)
      net carbs is total carbs minus fiber
      and to be one step ahead of everyone start doing intermittent fasting (stop if you can’t handle it and once again i do it too)
      so there you go plus a bonus tip start exercising even 10 minutes a day would work

    I have been struggling with my weight last couple years. Last few years, it’s reached certain level (currently 155 pounds) and does not decrease. Weight do fluctuate within 10 pounds but does not decrease at all. I am pure vegetarian does not include eggs. My current diet includes organic clean food does not include sugar, sodas and less alcohol consumption. I have not been eating rice, roti last two months. I am still not getting any results. I do eat bread once in a while. I checked with doctor, overall health is good and not any issue. I am 20 to 25 pounds overweight and trying to reduce. I have done so many things and nothing really work. I do exercise and lose weight temporary but gain again very quickly. It’s very discouraging when my weight does not hold at all.

    Can anyone share the Keto veg diet? Or anyone can figure it out the issue. On a side note, I am located in California for several years now.

I used to think that I am on keto diet regime but after going through the blog now I feel its not purely keto. This diet and exercise regime I been doing from 10th Janaury, 2018 and till date i.e. 31st January, 2018 I have lost around 7 kgs. Kindly review and suggest:

    My Personal Details:

    1. Name: Yashvardhan Agnihotri;

    2. Height: 1.98 meters;

    3. Weight: 157 kgs (previously 164 kgs);

    4. Age: 39 yrs.

    Diet Plan:

    1. Immediately after waking up in the morning at around 6:45 am everyday I drink One litre water and then 1 mug warm lemon water with honey;

    2.At 7:30 AM: 2 dates;

    3. At 8:15 AM: One mug black coffee;

    4. At 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM: Exercise. During exercise I take 1 scoop (14.4 gm) of MusclePharm Amino Hydrate + Recover;

    6. At 9:35 AM: a mix of Optimum Nutrition, Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate 1 Scoop (30.4 gm) + MuscleBlaze Micronized Glutamine 1 scoop (5 gm);

    5.     11. At 3:15 PM: ON Fish Oil Softgel (1 Cap);

    12. At 5:15 PM: Black Coffee (1 Mug) & Roasted Peanuts (30 – 40 gms);

    13. At 7:45 PM: HealthKart Probiotic (1Cap);

    14. At 8 PM: Paneer (150 – 200 gms) cooked with 1 big katori veggies 150 gms (spinach, carrot, tomato, greenchili, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp garlic, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder; 1 tsp cummin powder, a pinch of asafoetida, 4-5 dry cloves, 4-5 whole black pepper, black salt) AND 1 katori cucumber salad
    OR
    Whole Boiled Eggs (5 nos.) or Whole Egg Half-fry cooked in 1 Tbsp desi cow ghee and 1 katori sauted vegetables [cabbage (green & red), tomato, sliced carrot, bell pepper (green, red and yellow) 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp garlic, green chilli (total 150 gms of veggies)], 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder; 1 tsp cummin powder, a pinch of asafoetida, 4-5 dry cloves, 4-5 whole black pepper, black salt cooked in 2 Tbsp desi cow ghee AND 1 katori cucumber salad
    OR
    Half Tandoori Chicken & Tandoori Fish Tikka (150 gms) AND 1 katori cucumber salad;

    15. At 8:40 PM: ON Opti-Men Multivitamin (1 tablet) & ON Fish Oil Softgel (1 Cap);

    16. At 10:30 PM: 30 – 40 gms Paneer;

    17. At 11 PM: MuscleBlaze Micronized Glutamine 1 scoop (5 gm) mixed in one glass water.

    The above diet I am following from 10th January, 2018. In between during 4 times due to circumstances and situation could not follow the above diet and had to rely on Indian meal diet like Chappati, Dal, Vegetable Sabzi, Curd, Salad etc.

    My goal is to reach 120 kgs by November 2018. I should be having good physique, muscles and more importantly good health. I would really appreciate if you could help me with your suggestions. Request you to sedn your suggestions at yash.agnihotri@gmail.com.
