The initial phase

This is one phase that is most difficult when you are required to start a routine that is new and against your rhythmic cycle of the body built over years. Similarly, it wasn’t any easy for Arjun Kapoor, he had to fight hard against those food cravings and make up his mind to reach his goal.

He was not very confident in those early days about his career as a lead star, however then he met Salman Khan, who not only built his confidence in taking up acting as a career but also became a gym partner for him.

Arjun Kapoor used to cycle from Salman khan’s house to film city and work out with Salman Khan. It was Salman Khan’s great body and lifestyle that inspired him to lose weight.

Initially there were a lot of ups and downs when if he lost some in a month he gained back a few in the next month. In the initial month he lost about 10 kgs at a speedy pace which is not very unusual as the body first gets rid of the excess water and this initial start is what motivated him to keep going and get into shape.

Routine changes

Even though small you need to make up those changes to your routine where you need to analyse your current diet versus your ideal diet and also a build a workout routine.

Arjun Kapoor replaced rice in his diet with Quinoa which is a protein rich American grain. Also he avoids consuming egg yolk and has increased the intake of egg whites to about 4 everyday.

It was easier for him initially when he lost most of his weight through cardio and weight training, however it was difficult in the last year out of the entire 4 years to get that flat stomach and a sharp jaw structure, that is when he started with the crossfit training under Deepesh Bhatt.

He included the following training as a part of his workout routine:

–          Cardio exercises

–          Weight training

–          Circuit training

–          Intense crossfit training for 15-20 mins on a daily basis

Diet

Arjun of course has a chalked out calorie conscious diet plan with adequate intake of optimal nutrition

Breakfast: 4 egg whites, 1 or 2 egg yolks with 1 toast. His workout is followed by intake of protein shake.

Egg whites are a vital source of protein and calcium, egg yolks are nutrition dense however to be consumed in moderation to restrict unwanted fat intake and toast provides the required carbs.

Lunch: Dal, sabzi, chicken, 2 phulkas or bajra ki roti. Bajra is a fibre rich grain, he has increased the intake of protein in the form of dal and chicken and has restricted the quantity of carbs intake through 1 roti or 2 phulkas only, he is further trying to control his carb intake.

Dinner: He keeps dinner light and protein based. He loves to include meat, chicken or fish in dinner being  a meat lover.

Besides, throughout the day he likes to take black coffee, since the caffeine content further aids in weight loss.
