Paklu Taipodia wins the title of Eastern India Miss Fitness 2017

When we commonly see women burying their dreams and passions under the burden of their femininity, family, marriage and children we have Paklu Taipodia whose determination is subdued by none. Mrs. Paklu Taipodia, a mother of three, has bagged the title of Eastern India Miss Fitness 2017 at the 7th Eastern India Bodybuilding Championship Women’s Division. Yes, a mother of three is the new fitness queen. With a perfect hold over her passion, career and family – Paklu is indeed an inspiring athlete.

About Paklu Taipodia’s Victory

The 7th edition of Eastern India Miss Fitness Championship was held in Assam on 08 Jan 2017. It saw participation from the 12 East India states including Odisha, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, and West Bengal. Paklu beat down her competitors and won the title, bringing unmatched glory to her state and family.

Her victory was applauded and praised by Chairman of the Sports Authority of Arunachal Pradesh –Hora Malik, Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs – Dani Salu and President of Arunachal Bodybuilding Association – Techi Jovae.

Paklu Taipodia’s achievements and journey

Paklu is not a new name in the world of bodybuilding and fitness. Her career dates back to the late 90’s. Paklu Taipodia started her career as a weight lifter. She was an ace athlete and has earned laurels at the National Level. She is the only female weight lifter from her state that has competed in the Nationals. At the Eastern India Weightlifting Championship 1997 – 98, Paklu bagged a gold medal becoming the first woman from her state to do so.

After this, Paklu got married to Raj Thakuri who is also her current coach. In order to balance her family life with professional life, Paklu switched from weight lifting to bodybuilding. She gave birth to three children and still continued to pursue her bodybuilding career. It might surprise you to know that East India’s Miss Fitness 2017 is actually mother to a second year MBBS student.

Prior to this achievement, she also claimed gold at the State Women’s Physique Championship 2016. After this, she was chosen by the authorities to represent Arunachal Pradesh at the prestigious event – Satish Sugar Senior National Bodybuilding Championship 2016. The event was held in Karnataka between 16 and 18 December 2016. Paklu, after a fierce competition, claimed the 5th position overall.

While pursuing her bodybuilding profession, Paklu also has a government job. Due to her commendable performance as a sportsperson, she was appointed as a clerk in the Department of Forest and Environment. Every day she manages her schedule to train while doing justice to her family and office duties.

Paklu Taipodia is in true sense the face of a modern Indian woman. She is confident, capable, ambitious and determined to achieve what she has dreamed of. She serves as a great inspiration for women who give up on their dreams without putting up a strong fight. Hats off to Paklu! We hope to hear more from her in the days to come!
